The BILLFISH
is a 2006 38FT Northern Bay downeast sportfishing vessel. The hull and
top was built by Downeast Boats and Composites in
Penobscot Maine. The finishing of the boat was
done by Hustus Marine Services in St. George Maine.
The layout of the boat was fully designed by the owner / operator in the year
prior to construction. We changed a few things on the fly, but for the
most part the design and layout remained the same. The Billfish was
officially launched on a 7 degree morning on
2/2/2008. Sea-trails were completed in February and March and delivery to
NJ was on 4/4/2008.
Her power
plant is a powerful 700hp turbo-charged Caterpillar Marine diesel. She
will reach speeds upwards of 35kts and maintain a comfortable cruising speed of
25kts to and from the fishing grounds.
The BILLFISH
is built with only the finest boat building materials known to man. Her
structure and hull are hand laid fiberglass with a balsa core. The
secondary structures such as bulkheads & interior are all custom
fabricated NIDACORE fiberglass panels. This type of construction keeps
the boat lightweight without sacrificing any of its strength.
The BILLFISH is a state of the art downeast sportfishing vessel.
